SC dismisses PIL to earmark PoK and Gilgit as Lok Sabha seats
The Supreme Court dismissed a PIL seeking a direction to the Centre to earmark and declare PoK and Gilgit as parliamentary seats. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on former RAW official Ram Kumar Yadav for filing the petition and termed it "legally untenable". The plea said as many as 24 assembly seats have been carved out by the govt from PoK and Gilgit.

Over 13 trains were cancelled as torrential rains continued to lash Mumbai and its neighbouring areas for the fourth day on Monday. SpiceJet plane overshoots runway on landing, none hurt
A SpiceJet plane Sunday overshot the runway while landing at the Surat Airport, although none of the passengers and crew members on board were hurt in the incident, an airport official said. The incident, which occurred around 8.15 pm, was a result of heavy rain and wind, the official said.

BJP MP from Alwar Balak Nath had a narrow escape when the helicopter carrying him appeared to lose control for a while and started spinning in the air before landing in the Rajasthan district on Sunday, police said. First batch leaves for Amarnath yatra amid tight security arrangements

K Natarajan takes charge as Indian Coast Guard chief
Director General Krishnaswamy Natarajan took over as the 23rd Chief of Indian Coast Guard on Sunday. He replaced Rajendra Singh, who was the first cadre officer to head the force. Natarajan is a 5th Batch Officer of the Indian Coast Guard. He joined the forces on January 18, 1984, and holds a Masters' Degree in Defence and Strategic Studies from Madras University. He is an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College in Wellington.
