Supreme Court nixes opposition plea to raise VVPAT count

A last-ditch effort by leaders of 21 non-NDA parties for enhanced number of VVPAT slips to be counted failed on Tuesday with the Supreme Court dismissing their plea and retaining its earlier order of slip counts of five EVMs per assembly segment. The EC had earlier argued that its system of one VVPAT count per assembly segment had worked without any hitches.
